With the support of the W Retreat Koh Samui and Sound Club, Samui Lifestyle magazine commemorated the arrival of the Samui Regatta with a fashion event unlike anything the tropical paradise has seen. The Shades of Summer Fashion Show celebrated local designers on the 28th of May at Xin City in Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui. Open to the natural elements of the island, a massive runway provided by Sound Club acted as a platform to feature the designs of B&B Genevieve, Apollo 8, and Island Girl.
“Samui Lifestyle wanted to provide the island the opportunity to showcase all the genuine gems to be found here. In using appropriate platforms, we always attempt to shed a huge spotlight on the offerings of the island that really seem to appeal to those visiting or living on Koh Samui. In our latest attempt to do so, we joined forces with the W Retreat Koh Samui and Sound Club to celebrate the summer season with highlighting the fashions of local designers,” explains Nicole Christine Valdes, the magazine’s Editor-in-chief.
Arriving to the sounds of a live saxophone accompanying the tunes of resident Nikki Beach DJs, Andy Vier and Antonio Atkinson, guests mingled amongst one another with cocktails prior to the evening’s first showcase. The fashion show started with B&B Genevieve, a prominent Koh Samui designer offering garments that make women feel comfortable and sexy at the same time. B&B Genevieve’s lineup included a Cia Maritima caftan, Miss Bikini LuXe top, Cia Maritima Bikinitop, Anti-Flirt jean shorts and Maxi Dress Cia Martima.
Following shortly after came the looks of Apollo 8; a younger, urban brand found in Koh Samui. With an impressive collection of Mongolian cashmere and quirky silver jewelry, the runway featured ideal cocktail dresses, flirty swimsuits and trendy daywear. To wrap up the show was the works of the Island Girl Boutique presented a creative collection of maxi dresses, jumpsuits, and sexy minis suitable for all body types.
In conjunction with Shades of Summer Fashion Show, a competition was held to honor the most impressive model of the evening. After deliberations with judges: General Manager of the W Retreat, Coetzer Deysel, Samui Lifestyle’s Natchaya “Sa” Mornpia, Super Pro manager, Robbie Timmers, Samui Lifestyle Editor-in-Chief, Nicole C. Valdes, and Bangkok Airways press representative, Pannaphorn Preechachan, the group determined Kingu Deli as the evening’s winner.
