Whether you are the Managing Director of a large multinational company or a student struggling your way through University it is fair to say that it sometimes feels as if there are not enough hours in the day and more often the case not enough fuel in the tank so to speak. With the never-ending stream of fast food restaurants, getting the very best out of our diet is sometimes more of a challenge than we often consider.
Whilst awareness in the lack of nutrients in our diet becomes apparent, generally with the onset of fatigue and illness we begin to look towards supplementing with all manner of herbal remedies, multivitamin and mineral concoctions.
However what we fail to realize is most of these “Supplements” don’t actually work so well and the reason for this is that most of natures “nuts and bolts” (Vitamin and Minerals) need to be consumed in the right balance and formula thus rendering their properties less effective if they are not. Mother nature has had millions of years to get this just right so is it any wonder that with the right balance and a healthy diet all of our nutritional needs are met.
There are certain foods that can help boost energy levels and promote a general sense of wellbeing. Here are some of these foods to try and help in maximizing energy levels not only whilst holidaying here on Samui but also in day to day life.
Fresh Fruit is in abundance here so there is no excuse for not eating this typically cheap indigenous food source. Of course we all know the benefits of eating fruit at regular intervals throughout our day. All fruit is crammed with Fructose, natures very own sugar. Due to it being slow release, fruit keeps energy levels high and hungers pangs at bay. During your stay here we highly recommend indulging yourself in some of the islands delicious fruits such as Mangoes, Pineapples, Water Melons, Papayas, Lychees, Rambotans and many other exotic wonders.
Vegetables should also be a must whilst your health “Bandwagon” is on the move. Some of the Western Worlds more lavish Vegetables are at every morning or evening market throughout Thailand as a whole. Asparagus, Angel Loofah, Chinese Kale, Fresh Ginger, Okra, Pumkin and Yard Long Bean are to name but a few.
They all have one thing in common though…
they are packed with Vitamins and minerals so next time you are dinning out check out the vegetable dishes for a change and a boost to your diet.
Fish Fish is another great source for some of Mother Nature’s finest building blocks. Protein. Undoubtedly the best producer of this Essential food group, fish is everywhere you look on Samui and there is no question that it not only boosts energy but is also packed with vital omega-3 fatty acids, which encourage blood to stay fluid, and reduce the inflammation response associated with ailments such as heart disease and psoriasis.
